Carly Fiorina on Leadership and Choice

I am a follower of Stanford University's Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders Lecture podcasts via iTunes.

Today, I flipped thru the podcasts and decided to listen to Carly Fiorina, the legendary former CEO of HP.

I am not going to elaborate further here, goto Stanford U's website and watch the video live, or download the podcast and stuff it to your iPod/iPhone/MP3 player.

Highly recommended, you will never regret listening to this, I promised.

Penanti By-election : BN Should WIN

Although I am in favour of any Pakatan candidate to be nomincated for Penanti by-election, I do hope that BN will win this time.

Better if BN nominates Ahmad Ismail, the one who uttered "Cina Pendatang", to race for the state seat.

There's no reason why Ahmad Ismail cannot be the candidate, there's no reason why BN cannot win.

Leave the component parties like Gerakan and MCA aside, as BN need no Chinese support, or rather, the component parties have failed harvesting the Chinese votes in previous by-elections.

Thus, it should be BN vs Pakatan, or BN vs Keadilan, and there's no reason BN's Ahmad Ismail cannot win.

It will be interesting to see if the winner of Penanti seat to be appointed as the first Deputy Chief Minister, and yet Ahmad Ismail's victory (if he is nominated, and won) will give both Guang Eng and DSAI a good slap.

It is good, in my opinion, that BN should win, and win big time.

But if BN decided not to go for it, or BN nominated other than Ahmad Ismail, it will be the starting of the fall of BN.

Case closed!

I received this tweets from the Edge this morning:

Two Special Action Squad police officers Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar are to hang (via @edgemy)

Case closed, no more Altantuya.
Case settled, murderers found and sentence to death.
Case selesai, Altantuya REST IN PEACE??

But

WHO IS THE ONE BEHIND THE MURDER OF ALTANTUYA?

WHO?

Quota

The MCA President insisted that the number of Ministers and Deputy Ministers allocated to MCA must maintain the same, i.e. 4 Ministers and 6 Deputy Ministers, in the midst of new Cabinet announcement to be made by the new Prime Minister.

The statement shocks me as the world is moving towards abolishing quota of any kind, and MCA has called for the Government to abolish quota in Civil Service and Higher Education.

This shows the mentality of Malaysia politicians, of which they truly believe in quota system in the Cabinet, instead of believing in appointing a minister best suited for the job, and this happen to both the ruling and oppositions.

The appointment of YAB Dato Seri Nizar as the Menteri Besar of Perak has sparked unrest among the Pakatan Rakyat, especially in Perak, of which many has questioned why PAS, the party which won the least seats in the 308 General Election, was chosen to be the Menteri Besar.

However, YAB Dato' Seri Nizar has proven that he is fit, and in fact, best suited for the job, and is one of the best Menteri Besar/Chief Ministers in Malaysia.

Likewise, the First Deputy Chief Minister Fairus, was appointed in the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat. When Fairus gets into trouble, the office of First Deputy Chief Minister is vacated for PKR to appoint one of their State Assemblyperson. This is quota in disguise.

How would one believe, trust, and full-heartedly support the calls to abolish quotas in various fields where they are the one who practice and defend quota systems for Government positions, and worse, they are fighting for it.

In many circumstances, explanations given are almost similar: It is effective to work if one is given the Executive position.

This is translated to, in the eyes of the public, as : You don't appoint me based on quota, I refuse to work even I am elected!

What kind of logic?

Let's see if the new Prime Minister is brave enough to break this so-called quota among the component parties of Barisan Nasional.

If he does, he deserves a chance to perform, else, we know that nothing will change, and there will be no changes except cosmetic under his administration.

And we will witness again unfit person for an unfit job, how would we be able to expect the country will do better in the hands of UNFIT?

YAB Dato' Seri Nizar WIN!

You should know by now, YAB Dato' Seri Nizar won the parliamentary seat of Bukit Gandang.

I am picking up comments floating in Twitter as record:

-------
Bukit Gantang to Nizar. Slap on someone's face.

congrats Nizar!!!!!!!!

nizar wins by majority 2,789 votes. BN...you can eat my shorts.

Congratulation tu Mr. Nizar Mr. S Manikumar for winning the election. Rakyat has spoken.

@TheNutGraph Not Nizar's victory, it's the PEOPLE'S VICTORY. the small people. that is what people power is all about.

Nizar PENDERHAKA? 23860 orang juga ikut "derhaka".

Congrat's Nizar!! We love you and the trademark wave!

Nizar menang di Bukit Gantang..:)

------

It won't be fair not to have what people are saying on Najib, here you are:

------

says you can't have a clearer message than that. PM Najib, can we have statewide elections in Perak now?

------

Good enough? Good night!

1Malaysia and Ketuanan Melayu

When Najib took over the office of Prime Minister, he initiated the slogan "1Malaysia".

However, his party is positioning itself as the defender of "Ketuanan Melayu", or Malay Supremacy.

I am confused. Really... How the two can co-exist?

Can anyone care to explain how? What is the meaning of 1Malaysia and Ketuanan Melayu?

ISA and threat to the nation

13 ISA detainees freed, the Government is going to review the ISA.

Good news, isn't it? This is what those activists wanted, right? This is what those who opposed the Government wanted to do should they grabbed the Federal administration, correct?

The Government did this to silence ISA critics, and showing that the new administration is friendly and tolarable.

Question: what is the selection criteria that the 13 freed while others are still detained?

Question: if these detainees have been accused of committing crime and is a threat to the nation, why shouldn't the government bring them to court?

Question: if there sufficient proof to convince the Home Affair Minister that detaintion order signed against the detainees, why not bring them to the court?

Question: if the government does not have sufficient proof to convince the court of any wrong doing of these detainees, ok what ground the Home Affair Minister signed their detaintion orders?

Question: can the government be specific on how one can be the threat to the nation?

Question: do we have sufficient legislation to deal with all sorts of crimes, without ISA and Sedition Act?

Can the government make these known to the citizen as the government owes responsibilty to make clear of everything?

What if The Home Affair Minister made a mistake? What if the Home Affair Minister did not get the right reports from the Police prior to signing the detaintion order?

What if the Home Affair Minister is biased?

Why not just abolish the ISA and Sedition Act to show that the new administration walks the talk?

WHY?

Chinese Second Deputy Prime Minister

Read this:

MCA tells Najib to create a 2nd DPM post
Apr 3, 09 4:02pm
The MCA, an influential partner in Barisan Nasional, today called upon Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to create a post for a Chinese deputy prime minister and a Chinese deputy chairperson of BN.
Similar post in BN too
Will be fair for all

Aha! What about Kadazan, Iban, Indian, Mamak, pribumi, etc.?

Why not ask for DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER? Why 2nd Deputy Prime Minister?

What difference does it make if other than UMNO ministers have to plea, beg, demand, you name it, for anything to be done?

It really doesn't matter for me who will be the prime minister, deputy, or ministers. What matters me is whether they sincerely do their work for the nation.

Who really care about the skin color, religion, mother tongue, race so far as their tasks are carried out for the benefit of the nation.

What a stupid demand at the wrong hour?

Wonder if MCA do have brain to demand judging from their performance in the 308 election!

Who is right?

When the Hindraf 5 was detained under the ISA, the Home Affair Minister described the 5 as threat to the nation, and denied their rights to refer Government's action against them: detention without trial.

When Najib became the Prime Minister, he announced immediate release of 2 of the 5 detained Hindraf leaders. No explanation given on why the 2 is released, and why the other 3 are still detained.

Who is right now?

Home Affair Minister, who claimed that the 5 are threat to the nation therefore ISA is used to detain without trial.

What is the selection criteria of Najib on who should be released, is there something not right when the ISA was invoked on the 5.

Is this land ruled by man, or ruled by law?

If it is ruled by law, whose law?

Managing Expectation

It was an announcement that there will be BIG announcement tonight, from DSAI.

And the announcement is none other than defection of 6,000 PPP members to PKR at the wee hour of the by-election.

DSAI has yet to learn the lesson of 916, i.e. managing expectation.

Najib on the other hand, managed to come out with unmatched surprises, even if it is controversial like the fall of Pakatan's Perak State Government.

I am disappointed, and I do believe that most who wanted a CHANGE are disappointed.

I know, I know, it is not easy to fight BN as it has far reaching influence in all aspect of life in this land.

It is not easy to fight when you are weaker, with the mighty, wealthy, and arrogant ruling regime.

But what most people wanted is to ensure the country is managed, administrated, and run professionally.

Not the surprises that means nothing but political mileage that make no change to this country.

I hope both sides understand, at least respect the commoners and make our life easier in this troubled time.
