要骂架,你们不够班;做金手指?你们不配;

The Occupy Dataran revisited

Frankly, I do not know much about the Occupy Dataran, yet I think the movement is a phenomena of soul searching and reviewing our current state of democracy.

The Occupy Dataran first appeared and occupied the Dataran Merdeka since last July, a few weeks ahead of the much publicized Occupy Wall Street.
The movement is loosely formed by individuals who have concern over certain issues, or simply enjoying weekly gatherings in the Dataran Merdeka.
It is interesting to observe their processes, their thoughts, the way they discuss, which can be small to some but important for the person who brought it up, or as serious as discussing national or international issues.
There's no leader in the movement, everyone is equal and are free to bring any issue forward for discussion.
Occupy Dataran works on consensus of all, if any one of the participating member in their assembly block a motion, then motion will not turn to action.
Another interesting point is that the movement does not have so called membership, or one must attained a certain qualification to join their assembly. You can walk in and join, listen, participate in debate or discussion, or you can be a bystander, it is entirely up to you as an individual. The movement does not impose any restrictions to anyone.
I have recently read tweets concerning the movement, some simply ignore, some said it is too idealistic and can never implement in a large scale.
Those commented, I do hope they spend some time observing on site, talk to them, see and hear with your own eyes and ears.
I am not sure if this a model of future society, but it brings me back to the ancient Greece, pretty much the same feeling.
If you are looking for something new, try the Occupy Dataran movement, there's no barrier, just like the Dataran Merdeka.

Why I valued OccupyDataran movement

Last night, I told my wife, we need to show support to those who have been occupying Dataran Merdeka since last July 2011.
The occupiers have since without failed, even with interventions from the Authority, stayed in the Dataran Merdeka every weekends.
I salute their determination, their focus on issues, ie the people must gain their control back on matters affecting their everyday life and not by the bereaucrats and influencial businesses.
However, the society in general ignoring the existence of Occupy Dataran, some even laughed at them claiming that only the mad and retarded will act in such.

I see it otherwise. These people are just normal people, they too have to work hard to earn their living, but they choose to express their dissatisfaction by consistently repeating the same every week, without fail.

It is their determination and courage that we should appreciate, whether you agree with their cause, it is not easy to have it weekly, and they are not rich guys looking for excitement, they mean what they said, and they did it, and still doing.
They need no fund for their cause, but if you wish to donate, by all means. they are working on shoestring budget individually that they have to squeeze from their earnings.
But they do need food, drink, and now tent contributions.
If you can, pay them a visit. If you are not prepare to bring anything, it's ok, go there, speak to them, you'll be surprise they are not blind follower, they know what they want, and what they are doing.
Or perhaps, you may just want to join them atleast for a night.

How many Lynas can you stop?

When Himpunan Hijau announced their plan to march from KLCC, and carry coffin to the Australian High Commissions, before joining Bersih 3.0 at the Dataran Merdeka, I was kind of stunt with Himpunan Hijau's decision.

Granted Himpunan Hijau can do what they wanted, with the sole purpose of getting rid of Lynas, but why must there be a side dish when the purpose of having Bersih 3.0 is to have the best ever main course?

Can we ask ourselves a simple question:

How many Lynas can we kill? When a simple solution to the problem is to get rid of those wanted to stay in power yet ignoring your calls?

You can kill Lynas today, with massive show-off of your strength, but can you kill all Lynas alike mushrooming everywhere in the country, one after another?

Then why not give a killer punch and get rid of those obstacles, instead?

There must be something more than just the truth of Teoh Beng Hock's death

I do not agree when some said it is customary for the Authority to cover up or protect the law enforcers, on cases which clearly the law enforcers are at fault, such as Teoh Beng Hock and Sabani's death.

Both of them died under the care of the MACC, both of their cases were somehow twisted even to the extent of defying existing Laws, to ensure that Pandora's box is sealed tightly.

I do not think that those in power are not keen to have these cases cleared with truth revealed. this will help the ruling regime in the upcoming General Election.

Then, what is the motive of covering up the truth, protecting suspected officers ,to the extent that the ruling regime may weaken support which is already deteriorating?

Something must be big enough, big enough to send the ruling regime to hell, if truth is uncovered, not because the truth of both cases, but the key in law enforcement officers that form a perpetual protection to whatever they do, even knowing they are doing wrong, i.e. taken someone else's life.

Now, what is the key? Why must ruling regime willing to forego some votes, even some seats, in exchange for truth not to be revealed.

This is clearly not ignorance, it is calculated risk to ensure truth is buried deep enough to ever see the light.
